Comment peut‑on renverser un tyran? Peu de questions sont aussi actuelles. Pourtant, Shakespeare la posait déjà il y a 400 ans dans Le Conte d’hiver, où la tyrannie du roi Léontes, rongé par la jalousie, déchire sa famille et son royaume. Ce drame ne trouve sa résolution que seize ans plus tard, grâce au retour de sa fille perdue, Perdita, et à la rébellion de l’homme qu’elle aime. Pour son édition 2026 de Shakespeare‑dans‑le‑Parc, le Théâtre Repercussion présente ce classique, réinventé par la troupe UnCanon Theatre avec une distribution, une équipe de création et une mise en scène entièrement composée d’artistes noirs et racisés. L’histoire prend vie dans un univers enchanteur d’inspiration nubienne et futuriste, où l’afrofuturisme ouvre la porte à un imaginaire qui dépasse l’urgence du moment présent.

How can you overcome a tyrant? No question could be more timely. Yet, it was asked 400 years ago in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, where the tyranny of the jealous King Leontes tears his family and kingdom apart. This tragedy can only be overcome sixteen years later through the return of his lost daughter Perdita and the rebellion of her love.  For its 2026 production of Shakespeare-in-the-Park, Repercussion Theatre is presenting this classic tale, brought to life by UnCanon Theatre’s all Black and brown cast, designers, and director in an enchanting Nubian-futuristic world, where Afrofuturism allows us to imagine beyond the urgency of the now.
