Title: The Book of Izzy
The Book of Izzy is about a man with bipolar disorder. When he bombs his job as a wedding planner/coordinator, an old friend asks him to take a major role in her Yiddish Theater production of The Dybbuk, a classic play about a man's bride who is possessed by a restless spirit. It is set in the Polish-Jewish community before WWI and based on the play by Sholom Anski. While The Book of Izzy is fiction, it draws on and dramatizes some aspects of author Ben Gonshor’s own life.
